Quote of the Day

"He's got to just stay to himself and swallow it ... because everybody wanna try the football player."

- Former NFL running back and Leavenworth inmate Bam Morris, on Michael Vick's incarceration in a federal prison for dogfighting (WARNING - graphic image).

Ick. I bet he misses his old gravy train.

The dogs should be allowed to fight M Vick. Wonder how it would feel for M Vick to have his face chewed on for a while…I hope the dogs go for his nuts while they are at it.

am i the only one that has a problem with treating michael vick like he actually killed a human?

people who get convicted of manslaughter get less prison time.

people who assault and nearly kill others get less prison time.

i agree that he should be in prison, and agree that the perjury and obstruction of justice and sheer stupidity he exhibited is deserving of prison time, but dogs are, well, dogs.

the problem i have is with the trend to say man = animal = dog = rat and that there's no difference. that's a dirty lie.

Vick got 23 months. Murder sentences average 15 years and go way up from there. The average federal manslaughter sentence is 34 months.

I think he got a fair deal.

Thank you scalpel for that response.
As an animal lover myself, I've heard the following all too many times.

"He left the dog in the house and it starved to death."
"Oh its just a dog." OR

"The dog had to be put down because it was too agressive from being forced to fight."

"Its just a dog/X breed is always like that."

It isn't going to stop unless people change their mentality.

I'll get off my soapbox now.

Animals are different than people. Aside from babies they are truly the 'innocents' of our world. Destroying them is disgusting and I'm shocked anyone would have the opinion that "dogs are, well, dogs" or in other words "so what, it's just an animal".

Sure, the dog's don't understand why what's being done to them is being done to them - but on the same token, you could say the same thing about the babies who are raped in Africa because of the belief that sex with a virgin cures AIDS. Babies are, well, babies.
