God Help Me
My son became a teenager today.
Somewhere my parents are laughing.

Happy birthdya Little Scalpel who is not so little any more.
Happy Birthday to him, and get ready. It's just the beginning...
Mine got his license and drove himself to school for the first time today. God help us all.
Happy Birthday to your son! Just a few years left before he's driving. Oh yeah, and warn the fathers of the girls he'll be dating. :)
Heh, heh.
Don't worry, I didn't turn into a rebellious teenager until I was 15. Maybe you'll have a few more years of peace.
Happy Birthday Scalpel's son!!
My mother tried to put the curse of "I hope you have a daughter just like YOU someday!" on me but God was merciful and gave me sons and they were/are easy. :)
But when older son was a young teenager we were all school clothes shopping and he was getting to be annoying and he and I were getting testy. My mother and I were outside the dressing room waiting. After one of our testy exchanges, I looked over at her and she had a little smirk on her face. So I asked her if she thought this was funny? With that she BURST OUT LAUGHING and said, "YES...yes I do!" hahahahahaha!" :)
P.S. But that was it. That and the fact that he got an internet girlfriend when he was 16 soon to be 17. We live in NJ and she was from Ohio. THAT...is a story. Ummm but he won and they are happily married today.
Happy birthday to your not so little one. My birthday was on Wednesday...hopefully he's not as rebellious as I used to be!
Ah, what is it about parents? My mom burst out laughing as she told me my daughter was just like me. It took me a week to figure out that wasn't a compliment...
Got 2...I feel your pain. I'm a BSN student (12/08 grad). I enjoy reading your blog!
Quick! Tell him to move out now while he still knows everything.
Lynn and anonymous 6:16...very funny! :)
Better get a moonlighting job to pay for the groceries.
Been there, done that, got the T-shirt but the kid took it...today was my son's 30th birthday. And yet, I remember his 13th so well. Time really does go by quickly (cue violin music). It will get better...in about 12 years or so.
I am his son W00T haha scalpel (dad)
now im 13 mwahahahahahaha
My "baby" turns 18 today. She got a little angry when I danced the "We made it thru" jig.
Happy Birthday kid:)
Don't worry, he'll only be a teenager for seven years. Of course he will believe that he is a fully formed adult in three years.
My son exploded into a "real" teenager at 14. You have one year to prepare... :-)
Scalpel -
Ahhh, the circle of life continues.
If you're looking for a new gig, I've recommended you for an ED-overuse task force in the great state of MD:

For all our sakes, I hope you at least consider it...
Well.... Mine is 18, graduating from High School in about 7 weeks or so, and I've already had to fork over money for his freshman year of college. And he's getting all 4 of his wisdom teeth removed tomorrow.... The girls aren't far behind.
He is by far easier then the girls - no question!
I feel for you Scalpel I really do.
I don't know who said it but it might help to remember the following:
"The reason why kids become teenagers is so it's easier to kick them out"
Better you then me!
