EMT Snark
If my patients or colleagues knew what I was like when I was 18, they would run away in horror. Emily's off to a better start.
Ways to suck the life out of your EMT.
My favorites:
"If you’re a patient...
Call the ambulance. Meet us at the curb. Ask to ride in the front seat.
If you’re a nurse...
Ignore us when we bring you a patient. Especially if we’re EXTREMELY busy... Especially if you’re just sitting there having a cup of coffee…I know we all need coffee breaks, but A) you’ve only been on shift since 0700, it’s only 0830…I’ve been on since 1500 yesterday, haven’t slept since who knows when and I have puke on my pants from a toddler…a toddler who arrested in my rig…yea, quit your bitching, get your ass out of the chair and come get this patient report so we can go back on the streets."

You made me blush...
I'm truly honored to be included in your blog.
From the nurse's perspective - we could have been on duty since 1900 the previous night, and volunteered to stay beyond our 0730 quitting time due to staffing needs. Seeing us with a cup of coffee at 0830 doesn't necessarily mean that we're lazy, and have only been on duty since 0700....it could be the first time we've had all night to sit for a few minutes, and get some more caffeine in our system to keep on working a few more hours!
She’d only been on for 1.5 hours.
I don’t care how tired anyone is, I don’t care how long you’ve been working, I don’t care how much sleep you’ve had… come get the patient report, then go sit down. Patient reports take all of 2 minutes; you can wait another 2 minutes to drink your precious coffee. We need to go back on the streets, we don’t have the time to deal with laziness.
I obviously touched a sore spot Emergencymm.
BTW - I've been on both sides of the stretcher, both as an RN and as an EMT.
