Quote of the Night
As a burly male nurse and I were examining a demented old lady from a nursing home, she turned to him and asked, "Did you buy that dress you were trying on? It looked so good on you."
We hadn't finished chuckling about that when she turned to me and said "You like to eat, don't you." Not a question, but a statement. She must have got quite a kick out of that one, because she smiled and cackled contentedly to herself "Heeheehee...you sure do like to eat."
Heeheehee. No soup for you.

Thanks for the chuckle. Nice way to start the week.
You could have answered her by asking if she left her brain in her other purse. Okay, okay, I'm an editor and a writer, I'm expected to be mean.
That is toooo funny!
LOL! It's kind of cute that she got satisfaction out of her comment.
Last week as an in pt was I simultaneously annoyed (only because trying to sleep) and felt sorry for an elderly lady who was a couple of doors down who growled and grunted LOUDLY every 2 to 3 seconds until she tired out after a couple of hours and then started up louder after she rested. I only had about 9 hrs or so of it. She had been in the hospital a couple of days. I am guessing that she maybe had alzheimers? (can other forms of dementia do that?) Anyway, I was surprised to hear some staff member yell at her, telling her to be quiet and that she was disturbing everyone. It didn't make any difference.
The dress thing is funny. Did the male nurse look like Corporal Klinger in Mash? :)
And just how well do you know this burly male nurse?
Maybe he really did look good in that dress.....
"No soup for you!" HahahahahA!!!!!
The soup nazi Seinfeld episode IS one of my top favorite episodes! :)
I love crazy little old ladies. They're cute.

So, did Burly Male Nurse buy the dress, or not? It's so nice of her to go shopping with him. I hope she gave him so good pointers. Oh yeah, quit eating.;-)
SeaSpray...
Some of the more experienced nurses have learned that when you have an elderly, demented lady who's making a lot of racket, it's sometimes helpful to whisper to them "shhh...if you're too loud you'll wake the baby." I've even seen a few of them with dolls in their arms, presumably to give them something to "protect" and focus.
It can backfire, however, when the more demented ones start screeching "don't wake the baby!! don't wake the baby! hehehehe!"
