Hearing Loss

"It's the most common sensory abnormality in the world."

A tone that most adults can't hear but kids can.

I can't hear the secret tone unless I turn the speakers way up, but it drives my kids crazy.

Yeah, it's from last year. I didn't have a blog then.

I can still hear it, but admit that I have trouble clearing understanding my husband when we aren't in the same room. Especially with other noises (TV or radio or dryer, etc).

Thanks for confirming I officially tumbled down the hill.

Wow that's annoying. That's the same high pitched squeal that many T.Vs emit. I can tell if a T.V is on (if it's on mute) when I walk into the room; even if I can't see the T.V. There's this change in the air and I can hear the squeal just briefly before my mind takes over and says "It's the T.V.".

Hmm. I can hear it. Guess those rock concerts in the 80s and 90s didn't damage my hearing that much after all.

Now, what will be my excuse for "not hearing" my wife when she asks me to change the baby's diaper?

I clicked on the link and listened intently for the tone. Then I realized I don't have speakers hooked up.

It appears my hearing isn't the only thing going.

Thank you for confirming that I am still young even though my kids think I am ancient. I totally could hear that, and it made me squirm around like crazy. My husband couldn't hear it though and insisted that we were all pretending to hear a noise! Too funny!

Huh. I can hear it loud 'n' clear, but it doesn't annoy me. I guess I'm laid back like that. I am 27. But I am surprised that I can still hear it, because I've had Cisplatin, which is supposed to knock out high frequency hearing, and IMRT did a great job of baking the ossicles of my right ear.

Good God, I'm deaf. Not that I ever heard very well but even with the volume turned all the way up it remains almost subliminal.

You know what's funny though? I had an audiogram done 10 years ago because I often couldn't hear very well. The doctor told me the result and I said "I'm sorry, could you repeat that?", and he did and I still didn't hear him so I asked him to repeat it, again, and by the third time he was looking at me in utter disbelief as he nearly shouted "YOU CAN HEAR PERFECTLY!". Then we both laughed. It seems to be allergies because I apparently can hear sounds I certainly cannot hear. Wonder how that audiogram would turn out now.

Cool. I heard it. Maybe i should save that and try it out every year to see how I am regressing.

I guess I'm not as old as I feared I am ;>

A truly obnoxious sound!

God that's a horrible sound. Then again, I know I only have low-frequency hearing loss. Added fun: my dog was in the room when I turned this on, and he started howling like crazy.
