I just came from Scienceroll. I'm saddened that he/she had to end his/her blogging. :-(
The container of flea stopper reminds me of a story that my mother and father used to tell. My mom was an RN, and CNM (certified nurse midwife) working at Frontier Nursing in the backwoods of Kentucky in the
1940's when she was dating my dad. She wrote to him complaining about all the lice and fleas and such. He was working as a chemical engineer in NYC. He got her a pound sample of this white powder, which she used, and which worked almost like magic.
It was a sample of the new wonder material, 50% DDT.
